A modern foundation that combines a natural matte finish and medium to full buildable coverage with broad spectrum UVAUVB SPF 15PA protection. Applies, builds and blends easily and evenly. Naturally flawless matte coverage in our most extensive shade range. This best-selling collection features shine-free, buildable, iconic formulas created backstage to last all day. Choose your tools, match your shades and make your own masterpiece with Studio Fix – including the all-new Studio Fix Complete Coverage Cushion Compact SPF 50/PA for artistry on the go. Includes cushion. Wearing Studio Fix in NC42, set with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Golden. A medium-coverage matte liquid foundation, Studio Fix is one of my two all-time fave MAC foundations (the other one is Face and Body). You can easily ramp up the coverage to full by using additional layers, but I wouldn't use more than two or three. The first thing I would like to point out is the packaging. I actually love the black! Most cushions are white, so black is a nice change. It is similar to the studio fix powder compact and overall is a solid case. I also like that the puff is black as the other cushion puffs I have stain and are super hard to keeping 'looking' clean. Apply long-wear and colour-true MAC makeup foundations for flawless skin. These illuminating face foundations apply easily and blend evenly.

MAC has an extensive range of foundations to suit every makeup lover and makeup artist, though I have not played with their offerings for years… until now! The brand has recently expanded its Studio Fix collection with the addition of 2 new portable foundations – the Soft Matte Foundation Stick and Complete Coverage Cushion Compact.

MAC Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick comes in a portable stick format that is convenient for traveling, touchups and applications on the go. With 33 shades to choose from, this is also suitable for use in contouring. It provides medium coverage with a matte finish, and amazing longevity that does not fade nor oxidize as the day wears on. Unlike other stick foundations that I have tried, this MAC Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick has very little slip, which makes it difficult to blend. On the other hand, the lack of emollience also makes it less likely to transfer and more long lasting. Free yellow magic orchestra bgm zip. Coverage, though medium, does not build up easily either so it is not really suitable for use as a concealer replacement. However, it does an adequate job of covering up dark circles and gives a very natural albeit slightly more matte finish.

MAC Studio Fix Complete Coverage Cushion Compact is specially formulated for and currently exclusive to Asia. As with all good cushions, this MAC one comes with SPF50/PA++++ sun protection, and does not leave the complexion looking ashen which is great. In comparison to the Soft Matte Foundation Stick above, I found this Complete Coverage Cushion to be much easier to apply and blend. However, as you can see from the comparison photo above, coverage is more medium than full, and I still need a separate concealer to cover scars. When first applied, the finish is glowy and smooth, but on my dry skin it turns rather dry and starts emphasizing fine lines within 1-2 hours. Click here to view the list of ingredients.

Both foundations are extremely long-wearing, lasting me all day without fading or oxidizing. I should note here that the shade range differs between the 2, I wear NC15 for the Soft Matte Foundation Stick (which is a closer match), and NC14 for Complete Coverage Cushion Compact (unfortunately NC15 is not available and the next shade NC16 is a tad too dark). Personally I find the cushion more pleasant to use, unfortunately it is exclusive to Asia at the moment. The Foundation Stick is not one of my favorites, but you may enjoy it if you have oilier skin and need a truly matte foundation.

And with this, I round up this 5-part mini-series. As I type this, more new ones have showed up, but I think it is time to move onto other aspects of beauty. I have a fragrance review lined up, and am planning some skincare discourses. Baby #2 is due in early-March, so I have a few more weeks to go before the uncertainty of a newborn changes my schedule. I'm sure we will circle back to foundations sooner rather than later as it is one of my favorite things in makeup. So leave me a note below if there is something that you've been curious about and would like to see me review!

Update for all MAC foundation fan-atics: Thanks to the new MAC Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Sticks, this fall we'll have yet another reason to stick around the MAC counter.

One of my tried-and-true all-time MAC faves is their Studio Fix Foundation (it's wicked dermatological wizardry when mixed with a few drops of Strobe Cream and set with Mineralize Skinfinish Natural), so I'm excited about this cream stick foundation, which comes in 33 colors and hits shelves beginning September 5.

Like the O.G. Studio Fix Foundation, these sticks promise a flawless finish and a formula that's theoretically supposed to last 86,400 seconds…which is 24 hours, in case you were wondering.

However, unlike the original Studio Fix Foundation and its ultra-perfected, complete coverage, Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation is medium coverage and made to appeal to makeup minimalists, a la the low-maintenance girl (or guy) looking to even out their skin tone and ever-so-slightly blur some pores.

From the official MAC PR:

'There's a definite skin moment happening right now,' says Terry Barber, MAC Director of Makeup Artistry in London.' We're not talking rawness here, or the whole no makeup, makeup thing. 'It's premium skin; enhanced, plumped, smooth and packed with moisture. Matte in the past was associated with dryness and dullness, whereas the new matte is about soft focus and blur with no blanket coverage and light hitting in all the right places.'
